“Superstar” Cristiano Ronaldo, 36, will return to Manchester United for the first time in 12 years.

“We are pleased to announce that we have agreed with Juventus on the transfer of Ronaldo,” Manchester United said on its official website on the 27th.

According to local media such as the BBC, United will sign Ronaldo on a two-year contract. The transfer fee to Juventus is reportedly around 8012.8 million and the salary and other details are under discussion.

Ronaldo, who joined United in 2003, played for six years under former manager Alex Ferguson.

During this period, he has won numerous trophies, including three Premier League titles, one FA Cup championship, two League Cups championships, one UEFA Champions League championship, and one FIFA Club World Cup championship. Ballon d’Or, given to the best player in the world, was also awarded once.

He moved to Real Madrid (Spain) in 2009 and became one of the top stars with brilliant records, including two Primera Liga championships, four UCL championships and four Ballon d’Or awards.

Ronaldo then left Real Madrid in July 2018 and wore a Juventus uniform, winning the Serie A top scorer with 29 goals in the 2020-21 season.

However, the evaluation of Ronaldo in and out of the team was not good. Critics pointed out that Ronaldo ruined the team by showing no commitment to the team and standing at the center of discord.

Meanwhile, rumors of Ronaldo’s transfer were raised in earnest as Juventus was eliminated from the UCL round of 16 last season.

Ronaldo’s new teams include Paris Saint-Germain (France), Man City (England), Real Madrid (Spain), United (England), Tottenham (England), and Sporting Lisbon (Portugal).

In particular, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes offered Ronaldo’s transfer to Man City owner Sheikh Mansour, which seemed likely to lead to Manchester City.

However, United, who could not lose Ronaldo to a local rival team, reportedly moved Ronaldo’s mind through Ferguson.

According to BBC reports, Ferguson called Ronaldo himself to persuade him to go to Manchester United, and Ronaldo chose to return to his home team after 12 years.

Ronaldo thanked the club and fans on his social media, saying, “I’ve left Italy’s greatest team,” and “I’ve given everything for Juventus and I’ll love Turin until the end of my life.”
