Genesis GV60, U.S. IIHS Crash Assessment Highest Rating
The Genesis brand’s first electric vehicle-only model, GV60, once again proved its best safety.
Genesis announced on the 27th (local time) that the GV60 has won the highest grade “Top Safety Pick+” in a crash evaluation released by the U.S. Highway Safety Insurance Association (IIHS).
IIHS is a non-profit organization established in 1959, which comprehensively evaluates the collision safety performance and collision prevention performance of vehicles released in the U.S. market every year and announces the results.
In particular, since 2012, it has introduced a small overlap test that evaluates safety by colliding only a part of the front of the vehicle.
Vehicles with the highest safety are rated TSP+, and vehicles with good performance are rated TSP+. To receive a TSP+ rating, you must receive all 6 excellent collision grades, such as ▲ driver-side small overlap front ▲ passenger-side small overlap front ▲ motorate overlap front ▲ side ▲ roof rigid rating.
At the same time, a rating of ‘advanced’ or higher shall be obtained in the front collision prevention system test (vehicle and vehicle/vehicle and pedestrian) and ‘acceptable’ or higher in the headlamp evaluation of the entire trim.
The GV60 proved its best safety by receiving six crash safety items and the highest rating of ‘excellence’ in all trim headlamp evaluations.
In particular, the GV60 was evaluated to prevent accidents by effectively detecting pedestrians as well as car-to-car crashes within 40 kilometers per hour in the evaluation of the forward collision prevention system, and obtained the highest grade, “superior.” The GV60 is equipped with various advanced driving safety assistance functions such as ▲ Lane Departure Assistance (LKA) ▲ Intelligent Speed Limit Assistance (ISLA) ▲ Driver Attention Warning (DAW) ▲ High Beam Assistance (HBA) ▲ Rear Cross Collision Assistance (BCA) ▲ Rear Cross Collision Assistance (RCCA) ▲ Highway Assistance (HDA).
With the GV60’s acquisition of TSP+, Genesis was honored to rank all models that were evaluated for safety performance by IIHS, including G70, G80, G90, GV70, and GV80.
A Genesis official said, “Genesis is developing all models with customer safety as its top priority,” adding, “We are happy that Genesis models, including the GV60, have been recognized for their high safety through IIHS.” Meanwhile, Genesis’ GV60 received five-star ratings in the Euro NCAP evaluation last month, and all models that received Euro NCAP ratings such as G70, G70 shooting brakes, G80, GV70, and GV80 were listed in five-star vehicles, proving excellent safety in major regions.
