Mercedes-AMG 63 Edition 55 is released to commemorate the 55th anniversary of Mercedes-AMG
Mercedes-AMG was founded in 1967 by Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, and has symbolized the high performance of cars, unrivaled speciality, and the joy of dynamic driving for the past 55 years. Mercedes-Benz G-Class is the “King of Offloads” in Mercedes-AMG’s portfolio and has been in an unrivaled position for more than 20 years since it was first released as a high-performance AMG in 1999.
The Mercedes-AMG 63 Edition 55 is an edition model that celebrates the 55th anniversary of the Mercedes-AMG. The G-Class, which boasts unique box-type design, strong driving performance, and the highest level of safety, has been reborn as a model with AMG’s unique personality and uniqueness with special design elements to commemorate its 55th anniversary. A total of 85 edition 55 models will be sold in Korea. “The Mercedes-AMG has delivered AMG’s unique value over the past 55 years through its excellent driving performance and various lineup,” said Johannes Schoon, vice president of Mercedes-Benz Korea Products, Marketing and Digital Business.
Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55 applies special design elements that make use of AMG’s unique personality, such as “Edition 55” lettering throughout the vehicle, so that it can be recognized at a glance that it is a 55th anniversary model. Edition 55, which was released in Korea, consists of a clean and sophisticated Gmanufaktour opalite white bright exterior color. On top of that, both sides of the vehicle were finished with Edition 55 decorations engraved with AMG emblems, and the 22-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheel with high-gloss rim rim flange was finished in matte tantalum gray color, contrasting its appearance. In addition, AMG lettering is engraved in silver chrome color on the fuel tank cap to add delicacy.
The exterior of Edition 55 is applied with AMG Night Package and AMG Night Package II, emphasizing strength and dynamism. AMG-only radiator grille, turn signals and side mirrors, and spare wheeling on the back and exterior protective strips were finished in black, creating a contrast with the exterior color. In addition, the Mercedes-Benz Triangle Emblem, which is located on the front and back of the vehicle, as well as the AMG emblem applied to the radiator grille and the V8 BITURBO lettering on the front wing, and the Mercedes-AMG 63 model badge on the back are all made in high-gloss black to emphasize the dynamic and luxurious atmosphere of Mercedes-AMG.
Classic red and black Napa leather sheets are harmoniously applied indoors to complete the sensuous interior, and AMG mat carbon fiber trim is applied to create an unrivaled atmosphere. The AMG lettering engraved in red on the stainless steel door sill trim catches the eye every time you board the vehicle. In addition, “AMG” and “55” were imprinted on the AMG performance steering wheel based on Dynamica microfiber, adding to the speciality of the limited-edition model, and the black-colored AMG Edition 55 special floor mat made of high-end velour materials was decorated with red stitching and “Edion 55” lettering to enhance the interior.
In particular, this edition 55 model, which will be introduced in Korea, is equipped with a performance package, boasting more powerful performance. The performance package, along with the AMG carbon fiber engine cover applied to the 4.0-liter V8 Byterbo engine, improves the maximum speed to 240 km/h, helping the Mercedes-AMG 63 to exert strong driving potential. In commemoration of the release of Edition 55, Mercedes-Benz Korea will display the Mercedes-AMG 63 Edition 55 model at AMG Seoul, a brand center exclusively for AMG, for a month in November.
