Donald Trump Twitter account revived…1 million followers in 20 minutes
Former U.S. President Donald Trump Twitter account has been revived after a permanent suspension was lifted in 22 months.
However, Trump himself said he was not interested in returning to Twitter and expressed his intention to continue working on his own social media “Truth Social.”
Elon Musk, who runs Twitter, said on his Twitter account on the 19th (local time) that he would “recover Trump’s account,” and immediately after that, Trump’s account (@realDonaldTrump) was revived.
As soon as Trump’s Twitter account is revived, followers are increasing at a tremendous rate. At 8:42 p.m. on the 19th, about 20 minutes after the account was revived, the number of followers exceeded 1 million.
Musk said Trump’s Twitter account restoration follows the results of a survey. Musk began a 24-hour survey of his followers on whether former U.S. President Donald Trump would return to Twitter on the 18th and conducted it for 24 hours.
About 15 million people responded to the survey, of which 51.8 percent voted for Trump’s return.
The participants included some national leaders, including Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
Former President Trump’s Twitter account was permanently suspended two days after his supporters rioted at the Capitol in Washington, D.C., on January 6, 2021. Before the permanent suspension, his Twitter followers reached 83 million.
Since then, Trump has set up a social media called “Truth Social” and is using it as a propaganda platform.
Trump said in a post on Truss Social during Musk’s survey on the 19th that he had no intention of returning to Twitter regardless of how the survey results came out.
He encouraged participation in the Twitter survey, but said, “Don’t worry. We’re not going anywhere. Truce Social is special!” he said, revealing that he will continue to work on Truce Social.
