Ahn Jung-geun

SBS’s “The Story of the Day of Biting the Tail” (hereinafter referred to as “Kkokomu”) sheds light on Ahn Jung-geun.

“Kkokkomu,” which will air on the 5th, is the episode of “Ahn’s War – I still have a lot to say!” and deals with Ahn Jung-geun’s will, which is fiercer than a sword, and his oath, which is more determined than a gun.

On October 26, 1909, a man’s hot voice rang out at Harbin Station with a gunshot. “Korea Ura!” The man, who was held by a Russian soldier, shouted “Long live Korea” with his throat bursting toward the sky. His name was Ahn Jung-geun, who did not lose his confident attitude and determined expression even after his arrest. It was Hirobumi Ito, the first Japanese commander of the Joseon Dynasty, who fell down by the bullet he shot.

The story of Ahn Jung-geun, a doctor who was a symbol of the uprising and inspired many patriots, begins with an earnest oath.

Four years ago, November 17, 1905. A Japan-Korea Treaty of 1905 was forcibly signed between Korea and Japan. Ahn Jung-geun, who heard the news, could not sleep due to the burning resentment Soon after, his father, whose condition worsened, passed away, and Ahn Jung-geun lost two of his most precious things at once: “country” and “father.”

Jung-geun’s first specification of determining to fight Japan to the end was, “I will not drink alcohol until my country becomes independent.” He traveled to North Gando and Russia to form a righteous army unit and become a lieutenant general of the staff. The righteous army fought against the Japanese army at the risk of their lives, but in a month and a half, they suffered almost annihilation and ended in defeat. But he didn’t give up and vowed a second oath.

In the spring of 1909, twelve men gathered in a house in Yeonchu, Russia. Those centered on Ahn Jung-geun cut off the left-handed cotton paper and colored the Taegeukgi red with the four letters “Korea Independence.” There was only one goal of Jung-geun, who started a new uprising of righteousness. “I will definitely punish Hirobumi Ito, the enemy who took away the country,” he said.

“An Jung-geun, an independence activist who killed Hirobumi Ito.” He is only a fraction of what we remember. In this “Kkokkomu,” we will talk about why Ahn Jung-geun is called a national hero through the scenes of a lonely war from a breathtaking journey to achieve his pledge to Harbin, and a lonely war just before his death.
